Lauren's List: My Top 5 Reads of 2024

Since my youngest child went ot Kindergarten this year I've had more time for reading than the past 12 years, and it's been a real gift. Generally I gravitate the most towards fiction, and have my whole life, but also usually have a few nonfiction titles cooking as well with whatever novel I'm reading simultaneously. My favorite books from this past year represent my main reading channels: novels, Christian thinking/living, health/wellness, and parenting.

Now, onto the picks!

The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness by Jonathan Haidt

If you haven't read this yet, I exhort you, get on it! Justin and I feel so strongly about apprenticing our boys into wise use of smartphones and technology and giving them a gift of an embodied childhood that we launched a movement this summer to equip Christian parents to that end: check it out at hangtenmovement.com.

Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin

The Mythmakers: The Remarkable Fellowship of C.S. Lewis & J.R.R. Tolkein by John Hendrix AND The Medieval Mind of C.S. Lewis: How Great Books Shaped a Great Mind by Jason M. Baxter

A double feature pick!

The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion Vol. 8 by Beth Brower

Healthy Kids, Happy Kids: An Integrative Pediatrician's Guide to Whole Child Resilience by Elisa Song, MD
